The 2012 Color of the Year Award goes to....

Tangerine Tango!

We can not wait to show you what Tangerine Tango can do for you...

~In the Home~
Thank You to Fancy House Road for this lovely display of Tangerine!

Just some ideas...
Let's be honest, it takes a lot of gut to paint those walls in "Tangerine Tango", right?! Whoa Beehive Mama!!
However, the contrast with dark woods, light blues and grays, are you kidding me? It's a big YES!!
Will you try it in your home?
Some Ideas to start small: an accent wall or a half bath with paint, or use this color as an accent itself such as pillows, lamps, a blanket, a chair fabric or a rug with this splash of fun!

Paints to choose from: Sherwin Williams SW6880 Energetic Orange or Benjamin Moore 091 Tangerine Melt
 ~Accessories~
Tangerine looks so good on a Beehive Girl!
Walking down the street with these hot shoes, that lovely handbag, beaded sandals or the gold/tangerine Figlia designer heels... tsk tsk tsk... You can't pay money to look that good! Hot HOT hot!!!

~Clothing~

Watches and Dresses and Shirts, Oh My!

J.Crew Tangerine is so chic!

This summer is going to be AMAZING with this color swirling around the pool and at the beach, on the parkway, or downtown on the sidewalks. We think this color looks good if you have any skin color, any hair color, and any size! Bring it girlfriend!

~Lips and Nails~

"Gorgeous" doesn't even begin to describe this color on your lips and nails!  Again, what a diverse color with any hair color and skin tone. Shall we say Beehive Gorgeous? Yes!
~Food Benefits~
"Tangerines have similar health benefits to oranges.  Tangerines  and oranges provide an excellent source of vitamin C and flavonoids.   They also offer a very good source of fiber, and a good source of B vitamins (including vitamins B1, B2, and B6, folic acid, and pantothenic acid), carotenes, pectin, potassium, and folic acid.
Get on the Tangerine Train... Toot Toot!!
~Flowers~

Beehive Darling Dede would hand these over to her Best Friend any day of the week, because when you have a friend in the dumps... nothing says "Cheer Up, Buttercup!" like these energetic and uplifting colors!
Tangerine Flowers: Tangerine Yellow Dahlia Flower, Garden Rose Sunset Blend, and Yellow with Sunset Tip Rose Petals

~Weddings~

Thanks to "Snippet and Ink", we have everything we need to know about Tangerine inspired Weddings. This shows how Tangerine and Graphite come together in one perfect union. So elegant and so charming. Dumdum dum dum... (those are wedding bells) :)

Enjoy this Tangerine Year of 2012... get inspired and celebrate the power of your girlfriends!

Don't Forget your Sisters... Even After the "Couple" Life

A very dear friend emailed this to me just 2 days ago... and she really made me think about all my girlfriends that I have and how important they are to me. Even though I am joining the "couples" world in about 2 months, I still need and love those 'sister' bonds that I have with each and every one of them. I love you girls! From day one, it has been a goal of Tamara Clark, the owner of the Beehive Girls, to "Celebrate the power of girlfriends" and this is just the perfect way to remind us that we need that special time with our 'sisters'.

"A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

'Don't forget your sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.'

'Remember that 'sisters' means ALL the women. Your girlfriends, and all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.'

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her mother. She kept contact with her sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her mother really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT.........Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family: all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other."

Now, if you could, comment below about a best friend, sister, mother, mother in law, aunt, cousin, or any woman that you have in your life that has been there for you when you were coming into 'womanhood', we want to hear about your special connection and friendship!

Are You Ready to Start your New Years off Right??

Ladies Ladies LADIES!! We need to be strong this  year! Strong for our Friends, our Family and for our FEMMES!

We have compiled a mighty strong list of "New Year's Resolutions" for 2012 that will help you be a better person, a better driver (you'll see...) and a better friend! Let's Get Started!

#12  Take the Stairs. Period. See these Turquoise stairs? Yes, they are calling your name. Those scary stairs in your office building that echo and you can only imagine how many people have touched those handrails, yea, THOSE SAME STAIRS! This is such a great way to increase your cardio and leg strength. Um yea, you AND your daughter can wear those trendy skinny jeans now!

#11  Turn your Cell Phones OFF! It is certainly rude and disruptive when the person next to you (practically anywhere) is on their cell phone yammering away at the person on the other side talking about "personal things" that anyone in a 10 foot radius shouldn't really be eavesdropping on, but WE CAN'T HELP IT, when you are blasting your personal information to the open public. Please stop. Yes, we are all guilty. Another reason, we all need a darn break. Let go, Breathe! Turn it off and catch them on the flip-side.

#10  Eat In More Than You Eat Out. Have you ever thought about how much money you would save in a week's time just not eating out? What about taking it to the next level and not eating out every weekend. Those are big hitters there, tons of money being wiped out of your bank account going to fast food restaurants or even nice dinners with your girls. Let's think of alternatives....Try something like a meat and cheese platter at a girlfriends house instead of ordering pizza or Chinese food, or even worse a $50 meal at a fancy-shmancy restaurant. Try this website instead: Hungry Girl- Some of the most amazing delicious foods that you can find at the grocery store and most are either 200-300 calories or less!!! Say Whaaatt??? Now, go buy a cute apron and start cookin'!
#9  Show up on Time. Your Momma didn't like it when you were late, so your boss who pays your salary, sure isn't going to appreciate it, either.  Set your appointments 30 minutes prior to the actual time and go! Whether you use your phone or an actual datebook, set it up early. That way you are always on time. REmember that old saying, "15 minutes early is on time and on time is LATE!"

#8  Pick up the Phone and say... "I love you", "Pick up some milk", "Hello, How are you?!", "See you at 8pm for dinner". These are all typical texts we send to each other through out the day. That's just insane when not that long ago, we would have to call each other from the office or just wait to get home! Now, we just send a text and get mad when the other person didn't get it or for whatever reason didn't check it! That's the worst. Our voices are beautiful and, even better, our personalities are natural and God-given. Let them shine through your smile, pick up the phone and dial that 7 digit number and just call and say.... "Have a Great Day, Beehive Girl!"

#7  Get Out of Your Comfort Zone.  Take a trip on the wild side, Missy! Go out into the world and show 'em what ya got! Those pretty white teeth? Give them a smile! Not really a dancer? Sign up for a Zumba class at a gym with a friend.  All we are saying is, LET GO! Say "hi" to a stranger, however, do NOT go too far and sleep with him/her!

#6  Turn off the Internet. Here is a good Rule of Thumb, turn off the internet by 10pm and jump into a good book! No, I am not kidding, you Facebook-stalker and Tweet-talker. Some Good Reads Coming up in 2012 written by virgin-writers.

#5  Specialize in the "Invisible Grip". For the one who's being looked at, it sends a message of acknowledgment, connection and attention.  Possibly empathy or even intimidation (channel Steve Jobs of Apple, Inc., who was notorious for given the ol' stare down... and got his way, EVERY time). Being seen is, on some level, being felt.

#4  Leave Your Credit Cards at Home. Cut down on impulse buys when you leave your credit cards at home. Easier said than done, but possible and attainable. Financial freedom can be found when you start to see how much you spend on Starbucks a.k.a. "Four Bucks". Or when you take a trip to Target for just toothpaste and you walk out with um, I don't know... the entire flippin' store and a case of wine to drown your sorrows in. Shame shame shame we know your name!

#3  Bring back the original Hand-written Letter. Now you know that the Beehive Girls are all about writing your girlfriends on a regular basis. Especially when we have such a great selection of Note Cards to choose from. Check out our fun selection HERE! Just to take time out of your day to say "hello" or "thank you" is just priceless. From the heart is beautiful.

#2  Cut the Gossip. Tisk Tisk Tisk... stop talking trash about your girls! That is not how we treat women. Shame on us again for even thinking it, when she had the nerve to show up with him with THAT on! GAH! New year, New rule. No trash talk. Like Beehive Girl Darling Dede says, "If you can't say 'sugah' like you mean it, why you oughtn't say anything at all".

#1  Start your Day off Right. What we mean is, you need to be best friends with Tony the Tiger and eat your Kellogg's with a banana and a big glass of Orange Juice. Take your vitamins. Lay off the coffee and drink Green Tea. Now, do this all the time, every day, BEFORE you go to work at 7:00am. hahahahahaha! Yea right... BUT it's a New Year with New Rules!

From all of us at Beehive Girls,
Celebrate the Power of Girlfriends!

and ...don't forget to give a stranger the stare down, but then a big smile afterward (so they don't think you are about to stick em' up!)

Over the years, women have celebrated with luncheons and spa days, weekend trips and seminars on issues important to them. Groups visited museums and toured historic sites. They reached out to women in need by visiting nursing homes and collecting supplies for woman's shelters and women in the military. The power of woman's friendship is amazing!"

A Shopping Spree Presented by The Junior League of Raleigh - Raleigh, NC - November 2012: "Get all of your holiday shopping done and help support the Junior League of Raleigh and its programs."

A Christmas Carousel Holiday Festival - Raleigh, NC - November 23-25, 2012: "A complete holiday experience for the entire family. Featuring live holiday music, Santa, and cooking demonstrations. How did the Beehive Girls get started, you ask?

Now that you know who the Beehive Girls are... or should I say what they represent and the products they adorn, it's time to explain how it all got started!

The Beehive Girls were created and designed by Tamara Clark of Raleigh, North Carolina.  Tamara specializes in professional faux finishing and she is an accomplished muralist and is among several faux finishers who are adept in art instruction for new and developing faux finishers.  Her custom artwork has been highlighted in local and national publications over the past 27 years.  Tamara graduated with her Bachelors of Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.  Then went on to Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina to receive her Art Education Certification.  After teaching art classes at a local elementary school, she decided to start her own business, TC Artworks, Inc.

One day, her very good friends, Lu and Doug Harris of Raleigh, North Carolina asked her to paint some cute girls on their dressing room walls of their chic boutique, Certain Things, located in the Cameron Village shopping center. Tamara had already drawn up some ideas and showed them to the shop owners. They LOVED the "Beehive Girls!

Tamara painted the girls and ever since then, the shop owners receive rave reviews on those "beehive" hair-dos from their clientele!  So much that the shoppers started asking about greeting cards with the girls on them... which got Tamara thinking. When Tamara sees an opportunity, she seizes it!  She started to create all different types of Beehive Girls, 24 to be exact! All of the Beehive Girls were inspired from friends and family members, some of them she has known since birth, she says.  Each Beehive Girl has their own personality, their own little story of character, but ALL of the Beehive Girls celebrate one thing: "Celebrate the power of girlfriends". Another commonality, they all have beehive hair-dos :)

The Beehive Girls are growing!! We have a multiple stores that carry us from the West to the East coast of USA and we are also in Canada...talk about a road-trip with your best gals!
Each Month, we will highlight a special Beehive Girl and her story with information on which products you can purchase with her on it.  We have individual Greeting Cards, Boxed Sets of 8 Greeting Cards, Note Pads, Mouse Pads, Beehive Beverage Holders, and our newest addition of Cocktail Napkins!

If you find a Beehive Girl that sounds like a friend or family member and you want to send them a special gift, we can customize prints in 5x7 or 8.5x11 frames which have your friends hair color or skin tone to match. Now, that is hard to find!

Check out our website for more information and get your Beehive Girl stationary must-haves TODAY!!

Thank you for your continued support,
The Beehive Girls

P.S. The Beehive Girls Note Pads are great for stocking stuffers!
